“There are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature. Therefore, buildings must have no straight lines or sharp corners” – Antonio Gaudi

Settled in the residential space of Kolhapur, the Vaastu Compliant residence endeavours towards a subtle design. The client demanded a provision of an Olympic size swimming pool, a large enclosed tennis court and 4 Bedrooms. Another important factor that impacted the design was retaining the old structure. After studying the site conditions, the site boundaries were raised in comparison to the road levels. The tennis court was designed on the lower ground floor along with the swimming pool. The designing of the living room was also planned in such a way that it’s always visually connected with the lower ground floor and the deck on the upper floor. The elevational design was mainly envisaging a balance between the horizontal and vertical planes. The use of perforated screening added to the glamour of the facade and also allowed only partial sunlight to enter. A minimalistic design approach that fabricated a smooth rhythm of axial planes and structural columns with zero compromises on leisure and luxury.
